My hope in developing this page on our site is to both answer a very common question we receive, (How did we start our business?)
as well as help others discover true happiness.
as well as help others discover true happiness.
Proverbs 29:18 tells us we should have a life map to stay on path to His calling.
(KJV) Where there is no Vision the people perish.
(NKJV) Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint.
(KJV) Where there is no Vision the people perish.
(NKJV) Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint.
Why do I need a vision for my life?
- Life without Vision is aimless wandering
- A vision is your life map
- A solid vision directs your life
- Lack of direction leads to Chaos
- Confidence is in knowing where you are going
- Someone with Vision has true value
- With no Vision we are vulnerable to temptation
- Having vision is holding Liberty in Happiness
You should consider discovering or developing a solid Vision for your life, your marriage,
your family, your ministry, or your business.
It is much easier to discover or develop a Vision than you may think.
Many people often tell me "I already know what I am doing with my life", but do you have it written down?
There is power and authority in writing out your vision and signing it as your personal seal or decree!!
You may laugh, but I dare you to discover or develop your God given Vision, put it in writing, then sign it,
and hang it in your home or somewhere you can see it daily.
It is empowering, encouraging, and liberating all at the same time, but the best part is you now have HOPE. You have just been given insight for your future and steps on how to get there. Make no mistake; this is powerful and should be taken seriously. Many of us are falling prey to today’s distractions and discouragements that are attacking us the moment we wake up. We are being told we are not worthy and we are accepting defeat. A solid Vision will equip you to build your Faith and trust God for the future, and to stand up and feel worthy of His Love through Christ.
You can then begin to wake up and face the day with Joy and Confidence.
Once you have developed your God given Vision for your life, you can then begin to discover the freedom in His love and enjoy life by walking out His plan. Because He did not call you to the things you hate, but rather put passions deep within you for His plan, where you will find much Joy in your life.
How to discover or develop a Vision?
I will give you some simple steps on how to find your Vision or how to make it work for you.
I will ask you 3 simple questions that will have 10 answers each. Now I understand they may take some time to answer, but often they are much easier to answer than you may first think. It is important to answer them from your heart.
Another important part of this process is you must not let the cares of this world sway your answers, you should also answer the questions not thinking of work or a career at all.
Question #1 What 10 things do you want said at your funeral?
It is very important for me to set the stage here before you answer this.
Let’s picture your funeral far as it may be in the future. And for argument’s sake, let’s assume that you are able to look down on those at your funeral and observe them. You first see some close friends and family and then see someone walk in with a friend of theirs that you did not know. As they walk past your viewing, that friend with them said, “I did not really know them”. Then with urgency people spoke up, “You did not know them? Let me tell you who they were”. What are the next 10 things that you want them to say? What 10 things do you want to hear come out of their mouth about who you were or who you impacted?
Question #2 What 10 things do you dream of or think of often?
Now setting the stage again before you answer:
Rather you day dream or night dream, the fact is most of us dream or think of things over and over as a hidden desire. Some of these desires are good things and some desires are not so good things at all. But the fact of the matter is, the root of your desire is God given. We as humans just so very often pollute the Godly desires to the degree we convert them into sin and feel the weight and guilt Satan is throwing at us. Satan wants you to feel this way so you can’t discover God’s calling on your life.
If you’re a woman, your most common desire or dream may be having real security to the point you do not ever have to worry about money. Know this is a God given desire, just do not pollute it by thinking your security comes in finding a husband that has a lot of money. But you should discover the real root of the desire or the un-polluted version of it. God gave you a desire to crave a deep closeness with Him that you have total security in Him as to never worry. This type of security can be a major key to fight against depression.
If you are a man, you may have the common dream of deep intimacy and beauty. Be careful to not let your mind or heart go to the polluted version of dreaming of sex outside of marriage. But discover the God-given un-polluted version of this passion or desire. God has given you a desire to get close to Him and discover a deep level of spiritual intimacy with Him and to see His real beauty. This is a closeness that Satan wants to prevent at all cost as it could give you such a confidence in Christ that you lead Nations.
So in answering these 10 questions, be careful to write down your real passions or dreams and then discover the Godly root of it. Also be careful not to explore any un-Godly or polluted version of your dreams or desires.
Question#3 List 10 things to get you out of bed, excited & passionate in the morning,
ready to face the day.
Setting the stage one more time:
So many of us have gotten so distracted or hopeless that we struggle to know what we could actually be passionate about. But usually we actually know what would excite us to face the day if it were only possible. (Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me)
Dare to dream, remove all fears, and think of the most crazy exciting thing that stirs your passion. Take time to pray, dream, and connect with Godly passions that are deep inside you and make your incredible list.
For some this list may be simple, and for some it may be elaborate and crazy. Just make sure it is a stirring passion that brings a smile to your face at the thought of its possibility.
Passion Note: There is no passion known to man, that does not have a God centered root. Just remember to find the
un-polluted root of a passion; you need to find God’s real purpose for it. Remember Satan wants to rob you of your passions by hiding the Godly root so you veer off the path to the polluted version. This is Satan’s weapon to steal your Joy and drain your strength.
Dream Note: We are often taught that it is wrong to dream big. If you dream big, you’re taught that you must not be content. This is so far from the truth and thinking it is wrong to dream is a common misbelief or unspoken guideline of the Christian walk. Dare to dream big because you can’t out dream God. Do not mistake me; I am not encouraging the act of covetousness or desire of worldly pleasure. I am encouraging you to Dream of big things in your life that count when your life is passed. Choose - Eternal Impact Dreams
Putting it all together:
Now that you have your list of 10 things for each category let’s go to work on them.
If you take a close look at your 3 categories, you will find that you have a distinct common denominator (one from each category). If you find your common denominator you can begin to see the foundation of your God given vision coming together. You have 3 categories which gives you direction toward developing your vision from 3 directions or better yet from 3 perspectives. Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us a cord of 3 is not easily broken, and foundation for a vision from 3 perspectives gives a stronger root.
Safety In Vision
My daughter (when she was age 12) came to me and told me she had completed her list. I asked her, “What list?” She said, “The list you are always giving people to help them discover a vision”. I was blown away, as I had not asked her to complete the vision list. I then asked if I could see it and she was actually hoping I would ask her. As I began to read it, I started crying with amazement, hope, and happiness. I have felt already that I knew my daughter fairly well, but now I had her thoughts, dreams, passions, or desires all on one page. I had been helping people discover their vision for years now, but this was a whole new angle. I was holding in my hand a map to my daughter’s heart, and what parent would not want that? I now do not have to ask what she wants for her birthday; I know what brings her joy. I do not have to wonder what she is thinking about during the day, it is already on the paper.
You can’t buy this kind of insight into your kids’ lives, so put great value on this.
Our kids are vulnerable and always at risk of being influenced by peer pressure. But if they have a solid vision for the future that excites them, they are way more likely to stay on track.
NOTE: Do not make the huge mistake of pushing your kid(s) or anyone for that matter into completing the list. They will miss the mark completely if you push them at all. This makes you lose even bigger if you push them. So do not let your desire to help them or even help you understand them push you to push them. They need to do this because they see the value in it and want to do it.
If you do not have a solid vision, you are not on track to a positive future. And it is way easier to get a train off a track if it has not even been put on a track yet at all. But if you have a solid vision, you are careful not to follow things that may hinder your vision or alter your future.
