Orienteering Class - True Adventure Sports 3-hours

GPS Training and Navigation Class Part 1 – True Adventure Sports 4 to 5-hours
Learn how to use a map, compass, and a handheld GPS. Learn basic navigation and how to pinpoint a location for quick return, or quick rescue. Also learn how to search by waypoints or coordinates. This class covers the basics for emergency cold weather conditions and also covers a few tips on how to stay warm and comfortable for everyday cold conditions. Survival Class -North East Alabama 24-hour
This 24-hour class teaches and tests your skills to survive in the outdoors. You will learn how to live and eat well even in tough conditions. You will be taught to find water, build a shelter, find food, build a fire, set safety barriers, signal for help, navigate, and most importantly stay alive. All you will be allowed to bring is the clothes on your back. This is a safe way for you to test yourself for an extreme circumstance. The instructor will have the means to call for help if needed. This three-hour class covers many wild animals in Alabama. Some classes have sample live wild animals for display to learn about them up close. This class covers rappelling basics indoor and basics outdoor. The basics indoor class teaches you about rappelling safety/rappelling gear and its application, rappelling knots and application, and rigging points needed for rappelling. This class reviews rappelling basics then teaches advanced rappelling. Learn special rigging, mechanical advantage, ascending and rope walking, alternate rappel devices, changeovers, advanced knots, safety procedures, special gear, and backup belaying. You will also do several rappels and a change over before returning to the store for the rappelling test and knot exam. (Private groups are subject to a 3-person minimum) Meet at T.A.S. Training Center $155/person. Note: You will receive a class 2 rappelling certification photo ID card upon request and successful completion of this class and exams for a processing fee of $25.00.

Rappel Master Instructor Exam –TAS Training Center
This is a 250 question test that requires proof of a Level I Master Certification and proof of 200 successful logged hours on rope without mishap to be eligible to take the exam. Upon successful completion of the exam with 100% required you are eligible to receive a level II Rappel Master Instructor certification card. You will be required to obtain proof of insurance to retain your instructor level certification. The Exam fee is $45.00 and the certification fee is $15.00.

To take the Tactical Rappelling Class you are required to have taken Level 1,2, and 3 rappelling certification classes, and be a valid holder of a level three rappelling certification card and also have a valid law enforcement commission. (Private groups are subject to a 3-person minimum) Meet at T.A.S. Training Center $295.00/person Note: You will receive a Tactical rappel certification photo ID card upon request and successful completion of this class and exams for a processing fee of $15.00.

This class starts at the basics of rock climbing utilizing a top rope set up. No prior experience is necessary as this class will teach you the basic set up for safety, gear, and rigging. You will learn about holds, routs, belaying, belay commands, and emergency procedures. This class starts indoors and then moves outdoors for several actual climbs. Multi-Pitch Lead Climbing Class – TAS Training Center 9 Hours
This class will review basic, lead and trad climbing while teaching you the method of leading routs longer than a standard rout. You will learn how to safely pitch off and belay other climbers to your position for continued climbing. You will learn advanced anchors, knots, and rigging for multi-pitch belaying and climbing. You are required to provide a medical certificate stating a suitable health status for this level of training. This class is 50 hours continuous with little rest so being prepared is vital.
