Author: Kevin P. On 05-14-2012 07:39 pm CST We recently went to TAS for a rappel/rock climb adventure and then a cave tour that evening. I have to give major credit to Tyler and Steven. I couldn't have asked for better guides. Steven even got my wife, who is nervous about heights, to go rappelling through his encouragement. Tyler was full of jokes, which really eased the nervousness and he was really encouraging and patient with us. Steven was possibly the best cave tour guide we could of asked for, and if we ever go back to the cave, we are requesting him personally. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

We had not visited this area in many years and had never heard of TAS, but after this weekend we are planning 3 more trips back for more adventure with TAS. We had an amazing guide, Steven, and hope he will be ready for more adventure with us. We have already begun telling people about our wonderful experience and will continue to recommend True Adventure Sports to everyone we know and meet who is interested in adventure no matter the level. We really appreciated the quality and knowledge of our guide and TAS. I just say again Thank You for a wonderful Birthday weekend!!!

On 01-30-2012 06:45 pm CST Me and my wife Tina came here for our 11th wedding anniversary. It was something that we both had never done before. I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to do it at first because it was a little scary lookin off the side of that cliff and knowing that your fixing to go down it backwords and on a rope. But I knew that we were in good hands when we all joined hands and said a quick prayer with Tyler & Ashley. The cave tour was very fun also and well worth the time. We plan on coming back in the near future with family and friends and going on some of the other adventures as well. I can say this with my hand up, it was the BEST anniversary that me and my wife has ever had together. Israel, you are one cool dude, and you have an amazing staff, please let them know that I said so. Jamie

On 10-31-2011 11:35 am CST Thank you for a great day of family fun. Tyler, aka Taz, and Jana were fantastic guides. My younger son was terrified of the rappel, and they encouraged him and patiently helped him down the side. He was glad to get down, but he was excited that he had accomplished the event. I wish we could have stayed longer. I will most definitely bring my family back for more adventures and I will encourage others to go as well.
Thank you again!
Brian, Tracy, Chris, Micah, JT, and Maegan!

Author: Jonathan Ryer On 09-28-2011 05:27 pm CST I wanted to take a minute to say Thank You to TAS. I took my best friend on a rappel adventure for his birthday. From the moment we walked through the door Israel and his team were gracious and entertaining. We had Tyler as our guide and Josh on belay. I could not have asked for better guides. They immediately put you at ease and allow you to have the best time of your life! I can't wait to go back and do the wild cave tour, 185 foot rappel and the zip line. Also last note, everyone here has a heart for God and a servants heart!! The outfit is of the HIGHEST CALIBER.

On 09-14-2011 01:27 pm CST We brought a group of college students up Labor Day weekend for the extreme night hike and a midnight Cave tour. It was AWESOME!!. For us as a group of Christ followers, the opportunity to stop and worship our Creator in a cave was something special. The guides were knowlegable, safe and fun!

Author: Renato Zink On 08-24-2011 05:27 pm CST I had a really good time with my girlfriend and friends with your guide Tyler. He had really good charisma and enthusiasm. Author: Lisa Ellis Date: 08-11-2011 12:45 pm CDT I am not sure where to begin on expressing my gratitude for Tyler and all the staff who made our experience much better than we could have imagined. My 7 year old, Lauren, just wants to know when we come back can Tyler be our guide? I told her I would definitely ask. Riley, my 11 year old, is set for the 5 hour cave tour as his birthday present! David and I were amazed at how ready and willing our kids were to rappel. They both gained confidence in themselves by the challenges they faced. Tyler's calm presence and persistent pushing helped us all rise to the challenges. Ok, I have to admit that the rock climbing defeated me. I am going to have to conquer that wall someday. I have also spent the last week recovering from sore muscles and chigers(?sp). I forgot about those itchy little things living in Texas the last 5 years. Ha! Most of all I loved that Tyler uses his "job" to witness to all he encounters about the love of Jesus. Being reminded that we can do a! ll things in his names was the icing on the cake. The adventure would have been fun regardless, putting it all in perspective made it priceless. Sincerely, Lisa Ellis

Author: Heather McDonald Date: 08-08-11 5:33 pm CDT The girls in my family started a yearly retreat last year. This year, we decided to go to Fort Payne. My cousin found True Adventure Sports online while searching. We booked the Rock House and the treasure hunt. The people that stayed in the Rock House before us totally trashed it from our understanding. However, Israel went above and beyond to ensure that things were fixed, replaced before we went in. It is spectacular. You will NOT find anything else like it anywhere for the cost. There are 3 bedrooms, but we were able to all sleep in the same room due to the 3 high bunk beds. We have not laughed so hard in such a long time. THEN came the treasure hunt. We were not at ALL prepared for what was in store!! There was a point that I honestly thought I would NOT make it through. Patrick encouraged me all the way. We were literally knee deep in water, crawling through holes on our hands and knees in water, scooting across tops of rocks, etc. You just can NOT imagine unless y! ou do it! It was SO much fun. Strenuous, but FUN. It took teamwork. And I think it brought us girls even closer. David and Patrick both were absolutely wonderful. If you decide to do this, it will be a trip you will NEVER forget! And watch out, you never know where David will be lurking!! The both of them were so encouraging. Bring some old clothes!! Thanks to everyone...David, Patrick, Israel, and Alizabeth for all that you did to make our trip unforgettable! We absolutely LOVED it!!! Hope to see you next year!

Author: Kristin Date:08-08-2011 04:56 pm CDT We had the most wonderful time this week-end- We had seven women and stayed at the rock house - the accomodations were great! On Saturday, we did the "Cave Tour" and had one of the best times of our lives. The guides were excellent and Israel was so personable and made us feel so welcome. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking to step outside the box and do something that will impact the rest of their lives!

Author: Kristi and Nancy Date: 07-31-2011 05:12 pm CDT Two years ago I went rappelling with some friends. They LOVED it. I DID NOT! But what I DID love was the amount of time, effort and care showed to me as they talked my terrified self over the edge for a second try. Nope, I still didn't like it! But their effort is what brought me back with my Girl Scouts. I had two teenage girls, one ready to swan dive over the edge and the other, like me, VERY nervous. Once again, a different set of guides talked her over the edge and this time, SHE LOVED it! She willingly went back the second time...even in pouring rain! Our guides were Taz and David (I think!!)and they were absolutely great. To my girls AND to me, escorting me (cuz NO WAY was I rappeling down) into and out of the canyon so I could get some great action shots and be the "crazy photo mama!" They both demonstrated not only incredible skill and knowledge, but also incredible people skills. The gentle banter that made my nervous girl forget that she was about to go over th! e edge of a cliff on a rope was EXPERT! Good job guys...LOVE this company's adventures and their exceptional customer support. No doubt, we will be back...and hopefully we will find an adventure I can LOVE too!

Author: Ashley Date: 06/30/11 12:34 pm CDT I just felt like I had to say how much fun I had with the Cave tour! David was an amazing tour guide and showed us so many cool things that we thought we would never do or see. We will be back for sure and can't wait to go back! Everyone was so nice! Thank you!

Author: Glen Davis Date: 06/20/11 7:15 PM CDT I just wanted to say thank you to Israel and Alizabeth for all they did to help our very large group (60) of scouts and adults. We stayed in the Primitive camping area and activity field and had a fantastic time. While we stayed we experienced the bouldering and rappelling area at Cherokee rock village and the fantastic night hike. A special thanks goes to Tyler for his help with those activities. Although it was a bit of a challenge to coordinate activities for 60 people Alizabeth did a great job helping us put things together and was more than accomodating for such a large group. I spent way to much money in the TAS store because the prices are fantastic and they have some very hard to find items. On our last day Israel helped coordinate a service project for the tornado victims which was a perfect way for us to end our week. If I had it all over to do again I would make it easy on myself and take a smaller group just for logistic sake but TAS can handle any size you throw at them. We look forward to future cave, kayak, and canoe trips with TAS.
As a side note I have lived in Alabama for over 35 years and never knew of the beauty that the Little River Canyon has to offer. It truely is a hidden gem and the Cherokee Rock Village is a climbing, bouldering and rappelling dream!I have never seen anything like it. Dead man squeeze challenged me the most!
Thanks again for putting up with a bunch of "Mormons" and we appreciated your Christ centered activities. May God bless your business Isreal and your tornado recovery efforts in your area. It was a pleasure to work with you.

Author: Nancy West Date: 1/4/2011 5:37 pm CDT Anyone who has never been rappelling before is MISSING OUT!! Especially if you do not go with True Adventure Sports, because their team is incredible! Israel and Tyler were so patient and encouraging! They kept us laughing the whole time too. Our group had a 12 year old, 4 high school/colleges kids and a 40-something Mom... and we all had a blast!!! We can't wait to come back and try another adventure!

Author: Connie Scott Date: 1/1/2011 7:14 pm CDT Our family has been on adventures with True Adventure Sports in the past and again on our recent Christmas vacation. Everything we have done with them has been fun, exciting, well-supervised and organized. The Wild Cave Tour is a must! This was our second time to do it but we added the cave rappel on this trip. Our guides, Tyler and Israel, were great! This time we also did a Treasure Hunt. It was very challenging but also a lot of fun for our whole family from our 9 yr. old daughter to our 22 yr. old son. We spent a whole day together working as a team and seeing lots of places we wouldn't have seen. (I even made friends with a couple of Dekalb County Judges :-) Any adventure or class you choose from this company will be well worth your time and money.

Author: Brandon Date: 12/6/2010 11:07 pm CDT This was an awesome class that I would definitely suggest to anyone. TAS definitely has the best instructors in this field. I am extremely impressed with their knowledge and the way they relay it to the students. By far the best training I have ever attended. Thanks to Israel and Tyler.

Author: Stacey,Brad and Corbin Date: 11/27/2010 2:57 am CDT We called at the last minute, the day before Thanksgiving, and they made a special spot for us. We did the zipline and the free swing in the dark(and rain). They also gave us a place to stay...the Rock Cabin, which was great!!!! Tyler even went and got dinner for us and brought it to the cabin. Anyone looking for a great time with great people...contact these guys. Thanks again. Hope to see you again!!! Stacey

Author: Tennille Vieten Date: 11/7/2010 9:02 pm CDT Would really like to give a HUGE THANK YOU for the WONDERFUL experience all you guys gave us. I surprised my husband this weekend with a stay at a local log cabin and booked us to do the Rappelling and the Extreme Cave Tour. Isreal and Elizabeth were wonderful to us during our rappelling. Also Tyler and Elizabeth were very kind to us during our cave rappell. Tyler was an AMAZING and very entertaining tour guide for us through the cave tour. My husband has been rappelling before so he knew what to expect for that. I on the other hand have never done anything like that and it was AMAZING. Neither one of us have been cave exploring and I can not explain in words what EXCITEMENT we had while doing that. I have always been a big tomboy so never had a problem getting dirty. All the climbing and crawling through the mud just made it that more enjoyable. Thanks again to each and everyone one of you that made our trip that more enjoyable. We will DEFINITELY be back for more. Until then...... Tennille & John Vieten

Author: Brenda Turbyfill Date: 11/6/2010 4:57 pm CDT Special shout out to TAS and Tyler and the gang. You made the whole experience a lot of fun!! Have every intention of coming back and bringing the gals for a stay. I actually think I would like the night zip line, tiki torch run. I want to do the big zip line next. Again, thank you for a great time. In Christ, Brenda

Author: Ivy Harris Date: 10/18/2010 2:07 pm CDT I just HAD to write this review. I don't even know where to begin! The cabin was beautiful and had waaayyy more than any of us expected. The views, location, and basic necessities of life were all included in the price. What more could you ask for? The adventures: We started with the Wild Cave Tour with Tyler. He is awesome. This is something everyone should try in their lifetime with this particular company. Allow me to paint the picture for you: a group of city kids and adults, covered in dirt, in an abandoned cave, with an adventurous guide! You cannot ask for a better time. We continued on to the Extreme Night Hike with Israel where I almost had a panic attack, but I remembered I am a child of God with the help of Israel, so that quickly subsided. We conculded the night with a worship service overlooking the entire city. Picture perfect. The following day we had rappelling, rock climbing, and zip lining. I'm not sure what I had in mind, but this beat out my wildest dreams. Big thanks to Tyler again for encouraging the entire group to complete the rappelling, even through the tears and shaking. He remained calm and somehow knew the perfect thing to say to get each of us safely down the mountain. I also want to add that this company has the BEST customer service. They were more than accommadating for our group. I have bragged to everyone at work that they must visit Alabama and do it the "True Adventure Way". We had a chance to meet several members of their staff and all of them have two things in common: a love for Christ and a love for their profession. You put these two things together and you have the perfect combination of fun and worship of God. Overall I give this trip a 20 out of 10. If you are considering booking an adventure, do it! You will not be sorry!!! Many Blessing to True Adventure Sports Ivy p.s. Darren says "Hi" to Liz!

Author: Veronica Harris Date: 10/5/2010 11:11 am CDT I would like to say that we had a wonderful time zip-lining on Oct.2nd, the cabin was Great and had everything that we needed. I want to give a Big Shout Out to Tyler for being such a great guy, even though I was the one to get stuck and had to be rescued on the zip-line it was a true adventure and a life long memory. Tyler, thank you for your patience and I'm sure glad that you read that rescue magazine the night before so that you could rescue me!(remember that's what you told me once I was on the ground)HAHAHA!! I have posted some pics on FB and I've given your info to several people. Israel and Tyler, ya'll are a couple of the greatest people that I've met in a long time, thank you again for this truely amazing experience. May God Continue to Bless You and Keep You Safe, Veronica Harris

Author: Melissia Rodgers Date: 9/11/2010 10:55 pm CDT My family went today for zip lines and cave adventure. My husband had a stroke in June 2009. Tyler and Patricia were incredible. ALthough my hubby couldn't do the zip lines he had an awesome time. I would highly recommend them to everyone. They tailored our adventure to accomodate anything we asked. They were so patient with our kids (ages 12,12, and 9) even when the kids were scared and crying. Keep up the great work and we will see you again hopefully soon. Thanks again. This made my husband feel "normal" and "human" again - just being able to enjoy doing something with his family without getting sick.

Author: Nick Hall Date: 7/18/2010 3:53 pm CDT Israel and Tyler, Just wanted to thank you guys for the wonderful time and memories you helped me create with my three sons yesterday. Author: Brian & Angela Date: 7/14/2010 7:23 pm CDT Hey Israel (And James) Finally back in Mobile and wanted to take a moment to let you know we THOROUGHLY enjoyed our caving tour! Israel, you have an INCREDIBLE employee in your service! The tour was one of the best I have been on in many years, and given the difference in caving experience between Brian and I; James showed his true talents in being able to accommodate not only a novice caver, but a far more experienced one as well. We are planning another trip in November and will be returning for yet another adventure! Thanks so much for an incredible adventure! Brian & Angela

Author: Matt Snow Date: 6/25/2010 10:57 pm CDT Took my twin sons up for this class and could not have had a better experience. The guides were knowledgable and young men of fine character. Author: Rachelle Date: 3/23/2010 10:16 pm CDT Thanks so much! My goal for the weekend with my kids, a daughter, 13 and son, 15, was to have an unforgettable adventure like none they'd had before, and thanks to TAS, that was accomplished! This was our first experience rock climbing, and Tyler and James made us feel so comfortable. We had a terrific time. Afterward, the kids took Tyler up on the opportunity to do the wild cave tour, and they had a HUGE time (Thanks, Tyler) - Certainly nothing like the standard cave tours they've experienced. Both are now anxious to return to Fort Payne with friends just to share the excitement. What an amazing ministry, Israel!

Author: Greg Date: 3/20/2010 8:36 pm CDT We had a great time rapelling and rock climbing for the first time. Our guides, James and Tyler, were excellent. They made myself( a 50 year old), and my 16 year old boys, feel confident in our adventure. It was thriling, chalenging, and fun. We will be back. Thank you.

Author: Haley Date: 3/19/2010 8:29 am CDT Last Friday, I got the chance to go on the Wild Cave Tour with a couple of my friends. I had never been in a cave before and this was a great first experience. Our guides, Tyler and James, did a great job, and the made it possible for a beginner like me to go through the cave with no trouble. Although the water in the cave was cold, I had a fantastic time and will definitely be planning another trip with TAS. Thanks again Tyler & James!

Author: Jenny Foster Date: 2/10/2010 5:00 pm CDT This was the second time that I've done the Wild Cave Tour and it was just as great as the first. I talked a couple of co-workers into venturing out for something different while on a work trip and they were not disappointed. TAS has an excellent operation and one-of-a-kind experiences to offer. My husband and I discovered them about three years ago and we tell everyone that we know about them! As soon as we got back to the office, the three of us started trying to talk the rest of our group into a weekend adventure...maybe we'll see you again in the summer. Thank you Tyler for being such a great guide!

Author: Chris Jenkins Date: 12/20/2009 6:35 pm CDT My family has taken several adventures with True Adventure Sports over the last 2 years. Always professional and courteous. There is never a lack of adventure. TAS is not your normal outfitter. These folks mean business. You will not walk away disappointed. Long rappels, wild cave tours, climbing, and the list goes on. Israel and Lori operate a Christian business creating a great family and group environment.

Author: Natalie Date: 8/24/2009 8:34 pm CDT For my son's 10th birthday we wanted to do something really fun and unusual at the same time. We decided to go on a treasure hunt with TAS. We had my dad (56), me (33), my husband (32), daughter (11), and now 10-year old son. I say all this to emphasize the wide age range the group we were with. This was such a fun trip because we got to use our brain power to figure out the clues, do some sight-seeing, and some adventure walking/climbing. All of us were able to do all that was required because Israel tailored the adventure to suit us. The kids loved the climbing and cave dwelling, but of course their favorite was finding the treasure. It was a surprise to us that we actually got to keep the treasure and it's unique container!! This is the second thing that we've done with TAS. The first was an extreme night hike that I signed my youth group (and their families) up for. I can't say enough good about TAS. The staff are all friendly and encouraging. My husband also is looking forward to the men's retreat coming in October, and I can't wait until the women's retreat is on the calendar. If you're looking for some adventure, whether at a beginner or advanced skill level, TAS is the best!!

Author: Anthony Majusiak Date: 8/21/2009 10:51 pm CDT Can't say thank you enough to Israel and Lori Partridge and Tyler, Stef at TAS. It was a pleasure and intense experience. Completed all levels through Rappell Master training with TAS. If you are up to a challenging course, whether you are law enforcement, military or a vacationer to the area, TAS will definately test your physical as well as your psychological fortitude. TAS has the experience and expertise to provide you with safe, enjoyable and up to date training that will meet and far exceed your goals. If high adventure is what you are seeking you WILL find it with TAS. We can't wait to continue our training with the most knowledgable people concerning high adventure. Thank you again TAS.

Author: Lynn Overstreet Date: 6/26/2009 3:54 pm CDT TAS showed my family a great time rock climbing Thursday. My 5 year old daughter had a great time and the guides were very patient with her. My husband and I also had an adventure! We did this as our "family" thing for our first anniversary and it by far exceeded our expectations. The guides were great support, cheering us on and letting us know when we do something good and giving us tips to help us get to the top. The site we climbed was so beautiful and peaceful, I couldn't have asked for more! Thanks Tyler and Aaron and all the TAS team!! Get ready for more of us...we want to go Rappelling next! Lynn Overstreet

Author: Stephanie Garmon Date: 6/4/2009 6:16 pm CDT I have two boys, ages 10 and 7, who beg for me to plan adventures with TAS. Israel and his staff are wonderful with kids. The whole team is so patient and understanding with the kids and adults alike. TAS always goes above and beyond in my expectations. We have planned many trips with TAS and they are very accommodating with us. I would highly recommend TAS to anyone.
|
Author: Patricia Date: 6/1/2009 2:49 pm CDT You hear talk about team confidence building exercises, but TAS provided me with individual confident building adventures. Through their calm, confident methods, I was able to overcome a fear of stepping off steep cliffs, jumping across open spaces and to learn that I can do things I never thought possible and have so much fun doing them!! My life has certainly been changed by TAS adventures, providing me with a love of outdoor activities that will sustain me for life! Safety and confidence are the name of the game for Israel and his employees. TAS is especially kid-friendly, so don't be afraid to bring the kids and try something new!!
