Outdoor Rappelling or Cave Rappelling Adventures

These trips are designed for anyone wanting to try rappelling for the first time.
Each trip includes basic instruction, yet is not considered to provide an inexperienced person the ability to go out and rappel by his or herself.  No prior rappelling experience is needed.

All Equipment necessary for adventures will be provided with adventure

All gear necessary for classes is available for rent or purchase at our retail store and on-site at registration.

Rappelling Classes

Class #1 Call for pricing 8 hours

This is a 4 hour classroom course, and a 4 hour outdoor course that covers the following: rappelling safety, rappelling gear and its application (including ascenders), equipment care, knots & rigging, safety calls, and signals, belaying, and weather and several rappels. There is a knot test and a written test included at the end of instruction

Class #2 Call for pricing 8 hours

This class reviews class 1 and will go in depth in difficult rigging, anchor points, and emergency response. This class will be to improve your skills from class 1 in rappelling, ascending, and belaying. This class will have several 75’ rappels for skills and will be followed by a long rappel of 150’ to 250’.

Class #3 Call for pricing 8 hours

This class reviews class 1and 2, but will go advanced and teach you how to pass knots, change over from rope to rope, transitions from descending to ascending and ascending to descending, and basic pick offs. This class will also include some night rappelling.

T.A.S. also offers Rescue Rappelling classes and Tactical Rappelling classes

GPS Navigation Classes
Class # 1 Call for pricing

With True Adventure Sports Learn how to use a map, compass, and a handheld GPS. Learn basic navigation and how to pinpoint a location for quick return, or quick rescue. Also learn how to search by waypoints or coordinates. Note: Compass and handheld GPS is required.
 

Class # 2 Call for pricing

GPS Basics Training Class Part 2 - With True Adventure Sports learn how to quickly apply navigation skills learned in part 1. You will learn to find a beacon placed in the woods as a SAR attempt while knowing your position, and the position of your teammates. Note: Compass and handheld GPS is required.

Arrive 30 min. before all navigation classes to check in. Compass, and handheld GPS is available for sale or for rent at our store.
